Athletics at North Lanarkshire Council has a place for you whether you're interested in keeping fit, training to become a coach or you're targeting a place on the podium.

How to book!

As part of an exciting update to our booking system, customers are now able to check availability within our Athletics programme and arrange bookings at the click of a button. Please click on the link below to get started or log in to view any existing classes or progress.

Classes Available

Teeny Tots

3 years to 5 years old will work on the following skills & techniques – Running, jumping, long jumps, throwing, javelin, agility, balance and coordination. All these skills and techniques will be tailored to suit the specific age category and allow the participants to develop these at their own pace.

3 years to 5 years old – Child participation only

 

Run, Jump & Throw

5 years to 12 years old will work on the following skills & techniques – Sprints including crouch starts, long jumps including run up, take-off and landing, specific running techniques, shot putt, javelin, relays including changeover techniques, triple jump, agility, balance and coordination. All these skills and techniques will be tailored to suit the specific age category and allow the participants to develop these at their own pace.

For more experienced youngsters, the North Lanarkshire Athletics Partnership brings together elite athletes from Cumbernauld Amateur Athletic Club, Airdrie Harriers, and Motherwell Athletics Club, providing them with additional training support on their quest to fulfill their potential. For full details click on your preferred class below:

Structure of sessions.

3 to 5 y/o – Fun sessions with athletics themes. Working towards more specific athletics sessions, gradually implementing run, jump & throw techniques. Child participation only.

5 to 12 y/o – Fun sessions for young aspiring athletes looking to improve their fitness & athletics skills & techniques. We work on specific skills & techniques such as, sprinting, hammer throw, javelin throw, long jump and many more. Child participation only.

    Athletics Clubs

    If you want to take your passion for athletics to the next level, Motherwell AC, Airdrie Harriers, and Cumbernauld AAC are on hand to cater to your needs. All three clubs have achieved the Clubmark which recognises clubs who meet national standards of practice and who provide a safe and effective structure for members. North Lanarkshire has become the first Local Authority area in Scotland to have all their athletics clubs Clubmarked.
